One of the more common complaints about Windows on phones is the platform’s lack of big name apps. Instagram is one of the popular apps that is on Windows phones, though, and today the app is getting a big update.
Instagram for Windows 10 Mobile is rolling out with several notable features, including Direct Messaging, updated Search and Explore, and Account Switching, a feature that rolled out to Android and iPhone earlier this year. Also included in this new Instagram app is video support, which is a big addition to the app.
Instagram has been available to Windows phones since late 2013, but that version of the app has trailed the Android and iPhone versions when it comes to getting new features. Today’s update brings the Windows 10 Mobile flavor of Instagram more in line with the Android and iPhone versions, though, which is exciting news for Instagram enthusiasts on the Windows platform.
You can find the Instagram app in the Windows Store right here.
Also announced today is that Facebook has made new Facebook and Messenger apps for Windows. These apps are available to Windows 10 PCs today and will roll out to Windows 10 Mobile phones later this year.
