BlackBerry has been taking pre-orders for the Priv for a while now, and the phone officially launched today, November 6. The problem is that the Priv that BlackBerry is selling is a GSM-only phone, meaning that CDMA customers in the US are out of luck. That’ll soon change, though.
Verizon has confirmed that it will sell the BlackBerry Priv. The big red carrier announced the news today on Twitter, but it would only say that it’ll begin offering the Priv “soon,” opting not to share a price or any more specific launch info.

Before today, AT&T was the only carrier that had confirmed plans to offer the BlackBerry Priv in the US, so it’s great to see another carrier announce Priv launch plans. That’s especially true when you remember that it’s Verizon doing the announcing and that BlackBerry’s unlocked Priv won’t work on CDMA networks. It’s also good for BlackBerry, as a Verizon launch will make the Priv available on the US’s largest wireless operator.
