With the holidays imminent, many stores are likely to extend their operating hours to accommodate early morning and late night shoppers. And now Google will keep you updated on those changes.

Google Maps and Google Search can now display the holiday hours of a business if there’s a holiday coming within the next 7 days (above left). If a business doesn’t list its holiday hours, Google will display normal hours but also present a warning to let you know that those hours might be different because of the holiday (above right). You can also filter business by “Open Now” to find places that are open on a holiday.

Many shops will list their holiday hours on their website or give them to you when you call, but Google Maps and Search will save you the trouble of hunting down and navigating to a website or calling a phone number. This is a pretty handy feature, so if you’re going to be braving the crowds to get some holiday shopping done in stores this holiday season, keep Google Maps and Search in mind.
