Instagram has long been known for its square photo format, but today the photo-sharing social network is ditching that requirement.
Instagram is adding support for portrait and landscape photos and videos to its apps. This means that you can now easily post widescreen content without having to use a tool to make your photo into a square or cropping out parts of the image that you’d like to include.
Posting landscape or portrait content on Instagram is pretty easy. When you’re selecting a photo or video that you want to share, you can press the format button to change the orientation from square to landscape or portrait.
Instagram also says that all filters are now available for photos and videos and that you can now adjust the intensity of the filters that you apply to videos.
These new features are rolling out to Android and iOS today with version 7.5 of the Instagram apps.
