Most smartphones nowadays are big ol’ touchscreen slabs, and while some of them may have attractive designs, there’s not much differentiation when it comes to form factors. Sometimes something different pops up, though, and that’s the case again today.

The LG Gentle is a new Android-powered flip phone that’s been announced by the Life’s Good crew. For ₩200,000 ($171 USD), the LG Gentle runs Android 5.1 Lollipop on a 3.2-inch 480x320 touchscreen. It’s also got a 3-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front-facing camera, 4GB of storage, and a microSD slot.

Powering the Gentle is 1GB of RAM, a removable 1700mAh battery, and a 1.1GHz quad-core processor. Also included is 4G LTE connectivity.

LG is also touting some of the features that it’s built into the Gentle to make it more comfortable to hold and easier to use. For example, the Gentle has a round design to fit nicely into your hand. It’s also got a big physical keypad, dedicated camera button, and a “Q” button that can be used to launch user-selected apps. 

While there have been a few Android-powered flip phones released in the past, they’ve all been released in countries like South Korea and Japan, and it’s likely that that’ll be the case with the LG Gentle too. That’s kind of a bummer for anyone in the US that longs for a capable flip phone that offers a smartphone-style software experience, but these device makers likely feel that they won’t get enough of a return if they go through the effort of bringing these phones stateside.
