With Samsung expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ early next month, it’s no surprise to see that the rumor mill has been overflowing with rumors and leaked images focusing on Sammy’s new hardware.
Recently, images of what's said to be a Galaxy Note 5 prototype made their way online. The photos don’t show much that we didn’t already see a few days ago, but they do give us another clear look at what might be Samsung’s next flagship Android phablet. One thing that the shots do appear to do is put to rest the rumors that Samsung will include a push-to-release feature for the Note 5’s S Pen, as the device in the images still has a small opening where you could insert a fingernail to unsheath the stylus.
The Galaxy Note 5 is reportedly going to make its debut on August 12, a few weeks earlier than Samsung normally introduces its new Note phones, a decision that was allegedly made to give the Note 5 more time in the spotlight before Apple announces its new iPhone hardware. In terms of specs, the Note 5 will reportedly include a 5.7-inch 2560x1440 display, a Samsung-made Exynos 7422 processor, and 4GB of RAM. The bad news for Note fans is that the Note 5 might not have a microSD slot, but we’ll have to wait until the phone’s announcement before we know for sure.
A second leak focuses on a much smaller Samsung device. Some newly-surfaced images claim to show the Samsung Galaxy S6 mini, which is likely a smaller-screened version of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S6. The device appears to have largely the same design as the Galaxy S6, which is how past mini models have been designed as well.
Not much is known about the GS6 mini’s specs, but past models have been somewhat toned down compared to their flagship siblings, so don’t expect too much from this upcoming mini.
