Samsung’s no stranger to wireless charging, having pumped out several handsets with wireless charging support and even creating some of its own dedicated charging pads. Today the company unveiled a new wireless charger, but this one’s a bit different than Samsung’s previous pads.
The Samsung SE370 is a computer monitor with built-in Qi wireless charging. The charger is located in the base of the monitor, allowing you to plunk your phone down onto the monitor stand and juice it up. The SE370 includes an LED to let you know when your phone is charging.
As for the monitor itself, you can get the SE370 in 23.6 or 27-inch screen sizes. Both have a resolution of 1920x1080, 4ms response time, and a 178 degree viewing angle. They’ve also got 1 HDMI port, 1 DisplayPort, and 1 D-Sub connector, and Samsung’s included AMD FreeSync for reduced input latency (if you’ve got an AMD graphics card) as well as Game Mode and Eye Saver Mode.
The SE370 looks like a nice monitor, offering a modern design and a handful of ports and modes, though the 1080p resolution may be a flaw for some. However, the big draw here is the built-in wireless charging, which’ll allow you to skip buying a dedicated wireless charger and keep your desk decluttered.
Samsung hasn’t yet revealed when the SE370 monitors will launch or how much they’ll cost when they do.
