One of Android’s most well-known features is Google Now, an assistant that can give you weather, sports scores, travel info, and more without you asking for it. Despite the fact that Google Now is such a big part of Android, though, Microsoft is bringing its Windows Phone virtual assistant to Android, and now we know when Android folk will be able to give it a try.
Microsoft says that a beta version of the Cortana app for Android will be available in July. The app can serve up reminders, track flights, give you other travel information like how long it’ll take you to get home, answer your questions, and more. Cortana is also coming to iOS, though that version won’t arrive until sometime later in 2015.
Microsoft previously said that the Cortana beta for Android would arrive by the end of June, but now it looks like the app is coming a smidge later. Whenever it arrives, it’ll be interesting to give Cortana a go and seeing exactly how well it works. It may not be as deeply integrated as Google Now, but it’s nice to see Microsoft porting Cortana to Android and giving users more choice, and there may be some Windows 10 users that like having the same assistant on their phone and computer.
