We don’t yet know when consumers will begin using Google’s Project Fi, but when they do, they’ll have an app for the service right out of the gate.
A new Project Fi by Google app is now like in the Play Store. The app will let you manage your Project Fi account and settings, activate service, check your data usage, view statements, and contact support at any time. The app requires Android 2.3, so you can install it on most devices if you’d like, but because Fi is only compatible with the Nexus 6 and the service isn’t even live yet, you’re not going to be able to do much with the app.
If you need a refresher, Google’s Project Fi is a wireless service that combines Sprint, T-Mobile, and Wi-Fi coverage to provide the user with the fastest connection at any given time. It’s only compatible with the Nexus 6 — at least for now — and it starts at $20 per month for unlimited talk and text and you can add data at a rate of $10 per gigabyte. If you don’t use up all of your data in one cycle, Google will issue you a credit for the unused portion.
