Google’s currently got two versions of its Chrome browser on Android: the regular, public version and a Chrome Beta app for users that like to test out new features before the public. Today Google launched a third, even more bleeding edge browser.
Chrome Dev is now available on Google Play. Google says that the app will let you “live on the bleeding edge” and test out the latest Chrome features before everyone else. The company does warn that some features may be a little rough, but you can install Chrome Dev alongside other versions of Chrome, so you can always go back to the stable version of Chrome if Chrome Dev gets a little too rough.
Google already offers several versions of its desktop browser and Chrome OS, including stable, beta, and dev/Canary, and now they’re extending this strategy to mobile. It remains to be seen exactly what kind of goodies Chrome Dev will get in the future, but because it’s the bleeding edge version of Chrome, you know that you’ll get first looks as new features and help to shape them before they’re made available to consumers.
You can download Chrome Dev from the Google Play link below.
