The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are here, and while many new owners are likely enamored with the devices’ new design and beefy cameras, there are probably at least a few that wish that Samsung’s new phones were running the latest version of Android too. Worry not, GS6 folk, Samsung is working on it.
According to a report from SamMobile, Samsung is currently working on Android 5.1 updates for both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge as well as the Galaxy Grand Prime. There’s no word yet on when we might see those updates roll out, though.
Considering that the GS6 is Samsung’s brand new flagship smartphone, it’s no surprise to hear that the company is planning an update to Android 5.1. Still, I’m sure that anyone that’s already bought a Galaxy S6 or is thinking about making the purchase will be pleased to hear that an update is already in the works.
In addition to those Android 5.1 updates, Samsung is said to be prepping Android 5.0 bumps for the Galaxy Core Prime and Galaxy Mega 2. Apparently there’s no such build in the works for the Galaxy Note II, and so despite what Samsung’s international arms said previously, right now there’s no guarantee that the Note II will be bumped to Lollipop.
