After debuting Force Touch technology on the Apple Watch and its new MacBook, Apple is apparently planning to add the feature to another member of its product lineup.
Apple is planning to include Force Touch in the next iPhone, say sources speaking to the Wall Street Journal. Force Touch uses electrodes planted around the display to that can tell the difference between a tap and a deep press, each of which will result in different actions. Another change that Apple is considering for its next iPhone is a pink color option. The 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen sizes are reportedly going to stay the same.
Force Touch can add functionality to a device without cluttering it up with added hardware or software buttons, and since the feature is already on the Apple Watch and MacBook, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it added to more products in Apple’s lineup. As for when these new Force Touch-equipped iPhones might debut, the past few iPhone models have been revealed in the first half of September, so that may be when we see the new models this year.
