Just a little over a week after announcing a partnership with Qualcomm, the folks at Cyanogen have teamed up with another company.
Boxer, makers of an email app on iOS and Android, today said that it’s partnered with Cyanogen to become a built-in email client for Cyanogen OS. The new Boxer-based Email app offers a combined inbox, support for Gmail labels, push notifications, a conversation view, built-in task management, and integration with Evernote, Dropbox, Google Drive, and more. Users can also customize things like left and right swipe actions, notification sounds, account colors for LED alerts, and custom inbox folders. All of that comes with a Material Design user interface, complete with a floating action button.
Boxer says that its Email app will launch as part of Cyanogen OS 12, which will arrive in the coming weeks. It’ll also be available on future devices that ship with Cyanogen OS installed.
Cyanogen has said that it wants to “take Android away from Google” and make its OS the third major platform in the market. Getting a Boxer-based Email client as the default email app for Cyanogen OS gets Cyanogen one step closer to its goal, and the fact that they’ve managed make a Material Design-ified app with features that Google’s Gmail app doesn’t offer is a big deal for CM fans.
