Heads up, Nexus 6 owners, because your Android 5.1 update may be rolling out today.
Sprint today updated its Nexus 6 support page to say that the device will get an update to Android 5.1 today, March 11. The update will bump the N6 to LMY47D, the same build as those Android 5.1 factory images that showed up the other day. Also included in this update is Factory Reset Protection, enhancements to sending MMS in the U.K., and a fix for a bug that was causing duplicate SMS messages to be sent.
Google hasn’t said exactly when the Nexus 6’s Android 5.1 update will begin rolling out. Because Sprint’s Nexus 6 is just a plain Nexus 6 and not a special carrier version, though, all of you N6 owners may start to see the newest version of Android today.
Sprint’s Nexus 5 support page also says that that that device will get an updated to LMY47D today. Strangely, that update doesn’t say “Android 5.1,” listing only a Google Security Patch and some unspecified performance and memory improvements.
