Apple today released a second beta version of its forthcoming iOS 8.1 beta to registered developers. The update is build 12B407, up from the first beta that feature the build number 12B401 and was released on September 29.

As with past iOS 8 updates, iOS 8.1 beta 2 is compatible with the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina display. It’s not yet known exactly what Apple has included in this new update, but we do know that the first iOS 8.1 beta included a T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling toggle in Settings, larger icons in the Notification Center widget and a new “Camera Roll” name for the “Recently Added” photos section in iOS 8.

Apple hasn’t said when it’ll release iOS 8.1 to the public, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a launch sometime in the coming weeks. The Cupertino firm has said that it plans to launch Apple Pay in October, and considering how big of a new feature that is, Apple could certainly push it out with an x.1 update to iOS 8.
