Shortly after updating its Google News & Weather app for Android with a Material Design look, Google has made the app available on iOS.
Google News & Weather is now available for download from the Apple App Store. Much like its Android counterpart, the iOS version of Google News & Weather can display news from 65,000 publications and is divided into sections like Top Stores, Tech and Sports. You can also tweak your news layout by selecting a country-specific edition or a certain news topic like “Fashion.”
The second half of the app, weather, shows you the current temperature and conditions pulled from Weather.com. It also gives you the forecast for the next few days, the temperature for the next few hours and the precipitation chances.
Google News & Weather is a universal app that’s compatible with the iPhone and iPad. It looks nice on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but unfortunately there doesn’t appear to be a Notification Center widget available for quick news or weather access. Still, it’s nice to see Google continue to make its apps available on iOS.
