Begun, the iOS 8 third-party keyboard rush has.
SwiftKey has given us a preview of its keyboard for iOS 8, showing off the app’s various themes and features. As you can see above, SwiftKey for iOS will include Nickel Dark and Nickel Light themes.
In terms of features, SwiftKey will include many of the same goodies found in its Android counterpart. Those include SwiftKey Flow gesture typing, next word suggestions, autocorrect that adapts to your typing methods, SwiftKey Cloud for backing up your usage habits and support for many different languages. Out of the gate, SwiftKey will support English (UK, US, Australia and Canada), Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), French (France, Canada), German, Italian and Spanish (Spain, US, Latin America).
When it launches later today, SwiftKey for iOS will be a free download. That’s exciting news for the iOS crowd, as it means that they’ll be able to try out iOS 8’s new system-wide third-party keyboard functionality without having to shell out any cash to do so.
