One of the major new features coming with
iOS 8 is system-wide third-party keyboards, meaning that iOS users will finally be able to switch to a non-Apple keyboard full-time. Unsurprisingly, several Android keyboard-makers are jumping on this feature right away, including the folks at
Fleksy.
Fleksy pinged us to announce that
it’s launching a keyboard that supports the iOS 8 keyboard extension, allowing users to switch to Fleksy all of the time. The keyboard includes support for gestures, colored themes, customizable keyboard sizes, badges and 847 emoji.
Fleksy is available for download today from the App Store. It’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and supports 40 languages including English, Spanish, Russian, French, Hebrew, Dutch and more.
Considering that iOS is just now gaining support for third-party keyboards despite the fact that the iPhone has been around since 2007, it’s not surprising to see keyboard-makers immediately taking advantage of iOS 8’s third-party keyboard support. That doesn’t make it any less exciting, though, because it means that iOS 8 users will have lots of different keyboards to try out and find the perfect ‘board for them.
