Push-to-talk isn’t a feature that many regular wireless consumers utilize, but it’s an important feature for a lot of business folks. Now those PTT-ers have another way to keep in touch with one another, as Verizon has launched its new Push to Talk Plus service.
According to Verizon, Push to Talk Plus offers encrypted wireless service, faster call setup and better voice quality when compared to its traditional Push to Talk offering. Access to Push to Talk Plus is priced at $5 per month, but customers that set up the service now can get 6 months of PTT+ for free.
Of course, Push to Talk Plus and its benefits wouldn’t be of much use without any phones, right? To that end, Verizon is making PTT+ available to the Droid MAXX, Galaxy S5, G’zOne Commando 4G LTE and select other devices. The full list of compatible devices can be found here. The big red carrier plans to expand PTT+ to more products in the future, including the new Kyocera Brigadier.
Even though push-to-talk is a pretty business-centric feature, that doesn’t mean that carriers shouldn’t focus on improving their PTT offerings for those customers that do rely on it. Verizon is doing just that with Push To Talk+, and I’m sure that anyone that uses PTT on VZW will be glad to hear today’s news.
