The update to Android 4.0.4 officially began making its way to the GSM Galaxy Nexus way back at the end of March, but so far we've yet to hear a peep from Verizon on the official upgrade for its LTE-enabled version of the Galaxy Nexus. While that's still the case as we enter May, it appears that some Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners have begun receiving a bump to the IMM76K build of Android 4.0.4 over the air. So far it seems that only a small set of users have gotten the official upgrade. However, some folks have noticed that several display units in Verizon stores have also received IMM76K, as you can see in the photo above.
So what's an update-hungry Verizon Galaxy Nexus owner to do? Well, if you don't feel like waiting for the update to make its way over the air and to your neck of the woods, you can use the Google update URL to install IMM76K yourself. It's not quite as simple as clicking an "Install Now" button on your phone like during an OTA update, but if you just can't wait any longer and are comfortable with things like flashing and recoveries, you can find the necessary instructions and links here. Just remember that PhoneDog's not responsible if you decide to go that route and your phone gets borked in the process.
Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners have been patiently waiting for some new official software since the last update hit back in December, so it's good to see that 4.0.4 is finally (slowly) arriving. As I mentioned before, we've yet to hear anything from Verizon about this new update, so there's no telling when the big push will actually begin.
