Phew! October has turned out to be a big month for all major mobile platforms. Apple announced and released their latest phone and software update, and Windows Phone fans were finally introduced to those mythical Nokia-made handsets just this morning. Lest we forget some of the things that went on at BlackBerry DevCon just last week, like the announcement for BBX and BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 software. But of all the platforms, Android seems to have racked up some of the biggest news this month.

On the 18th, Verizon and Motorola held an event in New York detailing some of their latest products like MOTOACTV and MotoCast. But the highlight of the event was the unveiling of one of the thinnest, most powerful phones to date. The DROID RAZR ships with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced qHD (960 by 540) display, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera capable of 1080p video, HD front-facing camera, 1GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, 16GB microSD card, 1,780mAh battery and LTE connectivity.

Later that very evening, however, Google and Samsung teamed up onstage in Hong Kong to reveal two other highly-anticipated Android products: Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich. With a new version of Android that introduces a heavily redesigned interface and some gimmicky yet fun features like Face Unlock and Android Beam, this announcement quickly stole the hype from the RAZR event that had ended just hours before. The likes of that contoured 720p display on the Galaxy Nexus didn't help either.

Nonetheless, the DROID RAZR is a great phone; Motorola's attention to detail is said to be magnificent. At a mere 7.1mm thick, Motorola managed to make the RAZR one of the thinnest phones to date without sacrificing durability. They integrated a stainless steel core, a woven Kevlar fiber backing and sculpted Corning's Gorilla Glass to top it off.

Pre-orders for the RAZR start tomorrow morning at 8 AM Eastern, and I'm curious how many of you guys and gals are going to be heading to Big Red to order your very own RAZR.

I've been back and forth between the Galaxy Nexus and DROID RAZR since the 18th, strongly considering both. I'm in need of a new Verizon phone and I'm sort of growing impatient. No official launch dates for the Nexus or RAZR have been given, though in Verizon's press release this morning, it is stated, "Pre-orders of the DROID RAZR will ship no later than Nov. 10." When it comes to tech, patience is not one of my strong suits. Also, I'm a sucker for sleek design and I always enjoyed my DROID X, which the RAZR definitely has strong relation to.

That said, Verizon ruined almost any chance of me buying a RAZR when we learned that they decided to remove the option of unlocking the bootloader. I'm certainly not a fan of Motorola Applications Platform and I can barely last a day without a rooted Android phone. So for me, it looks like I'll be taking the Galaxy Nexus whenever it launches.

However, I know there are still a lot of you out there that didn't like what you saw in the Ice Cream Sandwich preview, and who aren't affected by a locked bootloader. There are even people out there who actually like Motorola Applications Platform. To those of you out there, are you going to place your pre-order tomorrow morning?
