If you've been patiently awaiting some new Android devices to release on AT&T, you may be in luck. Android Central is reporting that the dummy units of both the Motorola FLIPSIDE and BRAVO have made their way to some Costco locations. Both of these devices are mid-level smartphones running Android masked behind Motorola's custom skin, MOTOBLUR (I really can't get a grasp on their need for all caps). We figure AT&T will stick with the norm and lock you into only having access to app installation from Android Market, but there are ways around that.
The BRAVO is an all-touch device with a 3.7-inch display while the FLIPSIDE has a 3.1-inch display with a horizontal slide-out keyboard. Both devices will ship with Android 2.1 and will likely get a 2.2 update in the (I wouldn't say near) future. The FLIPSIDE is expected to be priced appropriately at $99.99 with a two-year contract. The BRAVO being the higher-end of the two devices will be priced at $129.99 with a two-year contract. Don't forget, these two are smartphones so they will also require a minimum of a $15/mo data plan.
When a dummy unit appears at a brick and mortar locations, it's a good indication that the release is approaching quickly. We've heard rumor of them being released on the 17th of October, but now that's come and gone. If you're interested in one of these two devices, hang tight, it can't be too long now.
