Look at what we have here, an iPhone 4 supposedly running on Verizon's LTE network. This picture, sent in to our own Today's iPhone by an anonymous source, looks to be legitimate. However, people can get pretty clever and and will go to great lengths just to fake a picture, whether it be tampering with the OS or using Photoshop. Until we get clarification, take all of this with the prescribed dosage of NaCl. TiP asked the source where the photo came from but Mr. Anonymous wouldn't tell specifically. He did mention "that the MacBook in the background belongs to a Verizon engineer in the Pacific Northwest region and that the handset is running iOS 4.2."
It's hard to tell one way or another if the photo is real, but take notice of the metal band around the outside of the phone. It appears to be a couple shades darker than the normal band you would see around the current iPhone 4. It could be the lighting, but Verizon is known for putting darker bezels and darker chrome trim on their devices, so this could be a way for them to differentiate their device versus the AT&T version.
If in fact this photo is real, and it is actually running on Verizon's LTE network, that would mean that if we ever see a Verizon iPhone, it wouldn't be before January when Verizon's LTE-endabled devices have been reported to launch. This also lines up well with a previous rumor. What do you make of the photo? Is it real or fake? Like I've said time and time again, I won't believe anything until Uncle Steve says its so.
