Motorola and Verizon launched the DROID 2 yesterday and, while the initial consensus seems to be pretty great, there are some users experiencing a major problem. It's somewhat difficult to judge how widespread the problem is since the device just launched, but many tech journalists who received units early are reporting that some DROID 2s are having trouble maintaining a solid signal. MobileCrunch has reported that the signal on one of their two devices is "all over the board, dipping from full signal down to nearly none whilst sitting in the same spot." Engadget noted in their review of the DROID 2 that all four of their review units are having signal issues. Finally, Rich Brome over at Phonescoop is having similar issues.
While we're not quite ready to call this a crisis, the number of review units that are unable to sustain a strong signal is somewhat troublesome. The problem may just be with the early units, however, and may not appear at all in the retail units that are showing up in the hands of eager customers. Even if it is a widespread problem, I'm sure Motorola and Verizon will be able to correct it with a software update quickly. Are any of you new DROID 2 owners having signal problems or is everything just peachy keen?
