As a result of the recall of the Galaxy Note 7, U.S. carriers have taken Samsung’s flagship phablet off of their shelves. Unfortunately for folks that still want a Note 7, it could be another month before it’s available for purchase once again.
Sales of the Galaxy Note 7 will resume at U.S. carriers on October 21, according to a planning document viewed by VentureBeat. That’s the same day that the LG V20 is expected to hit shelves, so October 21 could be a big day for Android phablets.
It’s worth noting that that October 21 date only applies to new Note 7 sales in the U.S. Consumers that are replacing a potentially dangerous Note 7 with a new model are expected to start getting their devices this week, while other countries will resume Note 7 sales earlier than the U.S. For example, Note 7 sales will start again in South Korea on September 28.
While still unofficial, an October 21 relaunch for the Galaxy Note 7 in the U.S. could make sense. Samsung’s priority is getting replacement Note 7s to consumers that already bought defective units, and the U.S. carriers could end up doing some of their own testing of the Note 7 to ensure that it’s safe.
