We’ve seen a lot of leaks regarding Google’s upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, including leaked photos and spec lists. One detail that’s eluded us so far, though, is pricing. That changes today.
A new report suggests that pricing for the Pixel, the smaller of the two phones, may start at $649. That’s for the base model, which Android Police says could include 32GB of storage. There’s no word yet on how much the Pixel XL might cost, but considering that it’s a larger device with a higher-resolution display, it’s likely that it’d be more than the Pixel.
Today’s report also says that Google’s Daydream VR headset could be priced at $80.
Also said to be in Google’s plans is financing for the new Pixel phones. The good news is that financing won’t require you to be a Project Fi customer, but right now it’s unclear which markets financing will be offered in. Google will allegedly offer accidental damage coverage and a extra year of warranty coverage, with pricing for that set at $99 for the Pixel and $119 for the Pixel XL.
Pricing for these Pixel phones won’t be official until Google says it is, but it’s certainly possible that they’ll be more in line with traditional flagship smartphone pricing than Google’s recent Nexus phones. These are expected to be high-end devices, offering 12-megapixel cameras and 4GB of RAM. Plus, past Pixel-branded products haven’t exactly been cheap: The Chromebook Pixel 2 launched at $999, which is pretty pricey for a Chromebook, and the Pixel C tablet started at $499.
