Yesterday, a lot of people were super excited to see that Apple charged their credit or debit card, even if it meant they still didn't have exactly what they had paid so much money for. Reports started going out earlier in the afternoon that Apple had begun charging cards attached to Apple Watch pre-orders, and suddenly the wait for Apple's smartwatch intensified tenfold.
For some.
A friend of mine and I are in distinctly very different places in this process, I learned. His card hasn't outright been charged just yet, but there is an authorization for the exact amount for the Watch he bought just lingering there, essentially mocking him. On top of that, his order page hasn't changed, so he's left waiting in the same way he has been since the 10th.
And then there's me, who placed the order for the Watch completely at random (because I couldn't get the MacBook in a store), but did so right around the same time as my friend. Of course, there were thousands of people doing it at the same time, so I know I should just be happy that my delivery date is "4/24-5/8," and not scheduled for some time in June.
This experience has shown me why I don't buy things online in general, but why I especially don't pre-order things. I hate waiting for things, and it is only going to get worse when Apple does officially charge me, and I still have to wait how ever many days it is to put the Watch on my wrist. And with a two week window when it could arrive, it's borderline difficult to hold in the excitement.
But, it has made me curious about something else, and that's to see when some of you are scheduled to get your Watch delivered to you. Did you manage to get a pre-order in to make sure you'll get it by May 8th? Or is your order dated to June? Let me know!
