Remember earlier this month when a couple of references to Android 5.1.1 were spotted on a Google site before Google actually announced the update? Well, Google still hasn’t announced Android 5.1.1, but the update has now appeared in a new location.
The Android 5.1.1 factory image for the Nexus Player was just posted to Google’s developer website. The update is build LMY47V, whereas the 5.1.1 builds for the Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 9 that previously showed up were LMY47W and LMY47S.
Since Google hasn’t actually announced Android 5.1.1, it’s still unclear exactly what goodies the update contains. Now that the factory image for the Nexus Player has gone live, though, it may not be long before the update begins going out over the air. Here’s to hoping that the push for other devices begins soon, too, including the still-on-Android 5.0 Nexus 9.
