HTC doesn’t have a huge presence at CES 2015, but that hasn’t stopped the company from making several announcements here in Las Vegas. First we got the Desire 320, then the Desire 826, and now HTC has revealed a major new feature for its RE camera.
HTC says that it’s adding a YouTube live streaming feature to its RE camera that’ll allow users to connect the RE to their YouTube channel and then send a live broadcast to their viewers. To do so, you’ll need to sign in to your YouTube channel using the RE app and then activate live streaming. Once your account has been verified, your RE will beam content to your connected smartphone, which will then broadcast it to YouTube.
The updated RE app with YouTube live streaming will hit Android tomorrow, January 9. HTC says that it’ll be available to iOS users “later in Q1 2015.”
With the RE camera’s portability, YouTube live streaming seems like a no-brainer feature and a great addition by HTC. Now the little device makes for an even more interesting option for folks that like to share their adventures with friends and followers since they’ll be able to beam their content out as it happens.
