Not wanting T-Mobile to steal all of the subscriber addition headlines at CES 2015, Sprint today revealed its own preliminary Q3 FY14 numbers.
Sprint says that in the final three months of 2014, it added a total of 967,000 customers, including 30,000 postpaid adds, 410,000 prepaid adds, and 527,000 wholesale additions. The big yellow carrier also explains that its postpaid customer growth was driven by the highest number of postpaid gross adds in three years.
“Sprint’s first priority is a return to customer growth and our results during the last quarter show we are on the right track. While we still have work to do, it is clear that our aggressive actions to provide customers with the best value in wireless are gaining momentum.” - Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure
Sprint also says that offers like the Cut Your Bill in Half Event help it to “nearly” reach postpaid phone additions in December and grow the take rates on its device financing options to 50 percent. Sprint will announces its full Q3 FY14 results in February, and while it doesn't look like T-Mobile will pass Sprint in total subscribers like T-Mo CEO John Legere predicted, things are certainly getting close.
