Last week, Verizon began updating several Samsung smartphones to add support for its new 5G Nationwide network. Now select LG phones are being updated, too.
Verizon is now updating its LG V60 ThinQ 5G UW and LG Velvet 5G UW to add support for its 5G Nationwide coverage. The updates are rolling out over the air now, and if you've got Verizon's LG V60 or Velvet, you should see your phone's update in the coming days.
You also have the option of checking for your new update manually by going into Settings > About Phone > Software updates > Check for Update > Download Now on your device.
Verizon's 5G Nationwide network uses low-band spectrum to cover greater distances than its mmWave-based 5G Ultra Wideband network. This means that while 5G Nationwide isn't as fast as 5G Ultra Wideband, it's better at reaching farther from the tower and penetrating buildings.
The 5G Nationwide network covers more than 200 million people in over 1,800 cities and towns.
