The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is getting a bit long in the tooth, but until this week it was still part of the group of devices that were getting monthly security updates from Samsung. Now that's changed.
Samsung has demoted the Galaxy Note 8 from monthly to quarterly security updates. While there hasn't been an official announcement about this change, Samsung's Android Security Updates page shows that the Note 8 was moved from "Monthly Security Updates" to "Quarterly Security Updates" this week.
This change follows the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ getting demoted to quarterly security updates earlier this year. Because of this, it's not too surprising to see the Galaxy Note 8 be demoted to quarterly security updates, too, since it launched a few months after the Galaxy S8 back in 2017.
The good news here is that if you are still rocking a Note 8, you know that Samsung is still working on security updates for you, they'll just come every few months instead of monthly.
