This is turning into a big week for Xbox fans. One day before Xbox Series X and Series S pre-orders begin, Microsoft has launched a major new version of its Xbox app for Android.
The new Xbox beta app for Android is now available from the Play Store. It includes Xbox remote play, which allows you to connect to your console and get access to Xbox One games downloaded to it, including Xbox Game Pass titles. This feature used to be in preview and required you to be an Xbox Insider to access it, but it's now available to everyone.
You can also sign in on as many Xbox consoles or Xbox apps as you want, all at the same time. When you're playing a game on one device, all of your progress, achievements, and saves will be synced and up-to-date on whichever device you decide to play on.
If you're planning to buy an Xbox Series X or Series S, you can use the app to set up your new console, including logging in to your account and selecting your settings while your console updates. Microsoft says this process "will save valuable time and get you ready to play faster than ever before."
Once your new console is ready to go, you can then use the app to install any game to your Xbox Series X or Series S or free up space in your game library for new titles. You can also use the app as a remote control.
Other features of the new Xbox app for Android include an improved search for both games and gamertags, profile highlights to show off your best game clips, and the ability to share your saves screenshots or game clips via social media. The Xbox app comes set up for easy sharing to Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, and more.
