One day after Samsung announced its One UI 2.5 update for the Galaxy S20 series, the update has begun rolling out in the US.
T-Mobile is the first carrier in the US to deploy the One UI 2.5 update. As spotted by TmoNews, owners of the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra are now receiving the update over the air. You can also check for the update manually by launching your S20's Settings app and tapping on "Software update" followed by "Download and install".
The update to One UI 2.5 is a biggie, bringing several Galaxy Note 20 features to the Galaxy S20 series. Those include some new camera goodies, like support for recording 8K video at 24fps and the ability to record footage at a 21:9 aspect ratio. You can also control your phone's microphone direction to pick up specific sounds while you're recording.
There are new Samsung DeX features, too, like the ability to wirelessly connect your S20 to a smart TV and support for using your S20 as a touch pad to control the second display with multi-finger gestures.
One UI 2.5 includes an Audio Bookmark feature for Samsung Notes that'll sync your written notes with audio recordings and the ability to import and write on PDF files . There's support for sharing your Wi-Fi password with nearby Galaxy devices in your contact list, too, as well as an updated Reminder app that'll let you preset the time and location for your upcoming tasks and support for Split Keyboard in landscape mode when using the Samsung Keyboard.
This is a big update for the Galaxy S20 series, giving owners of those devices lots of new features from the brand new Samsung flagship. It's great to see One UI 2.5 starting its rollout in the US just one day after Samsung announced it, and hopefully this means that we'll see Galaxy S20 models on AT&T and Verizon begin getting the update soon, too.
