The Galaxy S20 may have lost a little bit of the spotlight lately with the launch of the Galaxy Note 20, but now Samsung is showing the S20 series some love with a big update.
One UI 2.5 is starting to roll out to the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra today. The update brings several features found on the Galaxy Note 20 series. SamMobile reports that the update is already rolling out in European markets including Italy, Hungary, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Germany, and it should start hitting other parts of the globe soon.
Included in the update are some new camera features. Pro Video mode now gives you the option to record 8K video at 24 frames per second as well as the ability to capture video in a 21:9 aspect ratio.
You can also now control the direction of your S20's microphone while recording video, letting you pick up specific sounds. And if you've got a pair of Galaxy Buds earbuds, you can now use them as a lavalier microphone when you're recording video to minimize background noise.
Samsung's Notes app is getting better on the Galaxy S20 with this update, too. Audio Bookmark will sync your written notes with audio recordings of meetings, and you can import and write on PDF files. There's also a new Auto Save & Sync that'll let you access your notes across your Galaxy S20, tablet, and PC, and there are new template and background color options plus the ability to add handwritten text to typed documents.
Samsung DeX will let you connect your Galaxy S20 to a smart TV wirelessly as well as use your S20 as a touchpad to control your second display with multi-finger gestures.
The One UI 2.5 update enables you to easily share Wi-Fi passwords with other nearby Galaxy devices in your contacts list, too, and the updated Reminder app will let you preset time and location for upcoming meetings and tasks.
Samsung says it will bring this One UI 2.5 update to several other Galaxy devices in the future. Those include the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, S10 5G, S10 Lite, Galaxy S9 and S9+, Galaxy Note 10, Note 10+, Note 10+ 5G, Note 10 Lite, Note 9, Galaxy Fold, Fold 5G, Galaxy Z Flip, and Z Flip 5G.
