Remember earlier this year when Twitter began testing the ability for you to control who could reply to your tweets? Apparently the test went well, because now that feature is available to everyone.
With the new feature, you can choose who is able to reply to your tweets. The three options include everyone, people you follow, or only people you mention in your tweet.
You'll find this new feature on the compose screen of your Twitter app for Android or iOS as well as on Twitter.com. Just press the compose button and you'll see a button above the keyboard and toolbar with the image, GIF, poll, and location buttons.
If you choose an option other than "Everyone", other people will see a label below your tweet so they know that you've chosen to limit who can reply to it.
One other thing to note is that if you do limit who can reply to your tweet, other people can still view your tweet, Like it, retweet it, retweet it with a comment, or share it.
This new Twitter feature could help fight online harassment, preventing people you don't know or don't mention from getting into your replies if you don't want them. It could also help ensure that you've got a clean Twitter thread when you want it, making it easier to follow a conversation between certain people.
