Bikes are a popular mode of transportation in many places around the world, helping you get around nimbly and get some good exercise while you're at it. Biking is also one of the transportation modes offered in Google Maps, and today Google is improving that aspect of its navigation app.
Google Maps is getting improved docked bike-share information. Specifically, its end-to-end directions are getting better by giving you detailed walking directions to bike-share stations near your starting point along with like bike availability, turn-by-turn cycling directions to the bike-share station closest to your destination, and walking directions to your final destination.
In some cities, Google Maps will give you links to open the relevant bike-share app to book and unlock a bike, too.
These new bike-share directions are rolling out in 10 cities in the coming weeks, and Google says it's working to bring the feature to even more cities in the coming months. Here are the first 10 cities that'll get these improved bike-share directions:
