Facebook Messenger is getting a new look.
An update to Messenger is coming with a redesign that kills the Discover tab (via TechCrunch). This tab is where Messenger bots as well as nearby places and games live. These things aren't disappearing completely, though; you'll still be able to find them if you search in the app on Facebook pages.
With the Discover tab gone, there will be just two tabs in the Messenger app: Chats and People. The People tab will also have sub tabs for Stories (which will be the default) and Active, the latter of which will tell you which of your friends are currently online.
Facebook confirmed this update to Messenger is rolling out soon. Some people already have it, and more should receive it in the coming week.
This update helps to simplify Facebook's popular Messenger app, giving it a cleaner look and making it easier to chat with your friends. Since that's the main purpose of Messenger, we're looking forward to getting this streamlined app onto our devices.
