The Galaxy Buds are nearly one year old, meaning Samsung could be planning to launch a new model of its wireless earbuds soon. And today a new leak may have revealed what those new 'buds look like.
A render of the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ has leaked out. The folks over at XDA-developers found several references to "budsplus" alongside "buds" in the Samsung SmartThings app, and there are also animations showing the unannounced Galaxy Buds+ emerging from their charging case.
Neither the Galaxy Buds+ nor their charging case look very different from the existing Galaxy Buds. There's also no word on exactly what might make the new model "Plus", like active noise cancellation or anything like that.
Other details about the Galaxy Buds+, like price and launch date, are unknown right now, too. Samsung announced the original Galaxy Buds in February 2019, so it's possible that the new model could be announced around that same time next year.
The truly wireless earbud market has been heating up lately, with models from Apple, Google, Sony, Jabra, and others all gaining in popularity. Samsung has had its own truly wireless earbuds, but with all this competition, the company could feel the need for an improved, updated model to help it compete with the likes of the AirPods Pro and similar models.
