Samsung teased a clamshell foldable phone concept at its developer conference last month, and now the device has made the jump from render to reality.
Several photos that show Samsung's clamshell foldable phone in the real world have leaked. Spotted by leaker Ice universe on Chinese social media, the images show Samsung's unannounced device completely folded and then in the process of being unfolded.
On the outside of the phone, we can see a small display with what appears to be the time, date, and battery level, and there's a dual camera setup with flash next to it. The inner display has a hole-punch centered at the top of the screen and Samsung's usual custom app icons and navigation buttons.
This clamshell form factor is notable because the first foldable phones that've come to market open more like a book rather than an old-school flip phone. With this design, Samsung's clamshell foldable could more easily fit in your pocket and give you a display more like a traditional smartphone rather than unfolding into a tablet like the existing foldables on the market.
