Twitter has a couple of new features in testing.

First up, Twitter has announced that it's testing the ability to hide replies to a tweet in the U.S. and Japan. This feature allows the person who starts a conversation to hide replies to their tweet, though anyone can still view these hidden tweets by tapping a button in the corner of the original tweet.

This feature has been in testing in Canada for a few months now, and Twitter has found that people mostly hide replies they view as irrelevant, abusive, or unintelligible and that people were more likely to reconsider their interactions when they learned that their tweet was hidden.

"These are positive and heartening results: the feature helped people have better conversations, and was a useful tool against replies that deterred from the person’s original intent," says Twitter.

Meanwhile, it's been discovered that Twitter is also testing a feature that'll let you add a tweet to one of the recent threads that you've posted. Researcher Jane Manchun Wong spotted the feature, showing that when you decide to add a tweet to an existing thread, the Twitter app will give you a list of your recent threads so you can choose which one you'll add to.
