One of the benefits of Apple's iPhone 11, Pro, and Max is that they offer longer battery life than last year's models. According to a new report, though, Apple is still planning to offer Smart Battery Case accessories for its new iPhones.
The code of iOS 13.1 reportedly contains references to three new Smart Battery Case models. According to 9to5Mac, the model codes for these cases are A2180, A2183, and A2184, which could be for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
It's unclear when Apple might launch these new Smart Battery Cases or how much they might cost. The iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max versions of the Smart Battery Case launched in January 2019, a few months after the actual iPhones launched. Pricing for those Smart Battery Cases are $129.
This year, Apple says that the iPhone 11 gets one hour of extra battery life over the iPhone XR while the iPhone 11 Pro lasts four hours more than the iPhone XS and the iPhone 11 Pro Max lasts five hours longer than the XS Max. With those increases, you may think that a Smart Battery Case wouldn't be necessary, but some folks may still find it useful if they know they're going to be away from an outlet for a while or using their phone a lot, like if they're traveling. So it'd be nice to see Apple offer the option of getting a Smart Battery Case for its newest iPhones, just like it has for some of its other recent models.
