The Apple Watch Series 5 is now official, and it includes a major upgrade that lots of folks have asking for from the Apple Watch since day one.

Apple has added an always-on display to the Apple Watch Series 5. With this feature, the Apple Watch screen will dim but you'll still be able to see the time and complications or your current workout. If you raise your wrist or tap the display, the screen will brighten back to normal.

Apple says that it uses a Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LPTO) tech to lower the refresh rate on the Apple Watch Series 5 screen down to 1Hz for the always-on display feature. Combining that with the dimmer screen, and Apple says that the Apple Watch Series 5 gets the same 18-hour battery life as previous models.

The new Apple Watch Series 5 also includes a built-in compass, and it'll be available in aluminum and stainless steel finishes. Apple also plans to offer brushed titanium and ceramic finishes for its new smartwatch.

The Apple Watch Series 5 is available starting today and will ship on September 20. Pricing starts at $399 for the GPS model or $499 for the GPS + Cellular version. The titanium Apple Watch Series 5 will start at $799, and pricing for the ceramic model will start at $1,299.

Apple also plans to continue selling the Apple Watch Series 3 at a starting price of $199.
