Alongside the iPhone 11, Apple today introduced the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
One of the things that makes this model "Pro" is the addition of a third rear camera. There's a 12MP wide angle camera with OIS and f/1.8 aperture and OIS, a 12MP telephoto camera with f/2.0 aperture and f/2.0 aperture, and a new 12MP ultra wide angle camera with a 120-degree field of view.
In addition to those upgraded camera sensors, Apple is adding a Night Mode will help you take better low-light photos with more natural colors and reduced noise, and the improved Portrait Mode offers wide framing so that you can fit more people into your shot. The improved telephoto camera features a larger f/2.0 aperture that can capture 40 percent more light than the iPhone XS, getting you better photos and videos.
The front camera of the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max has been upgraded, too. It's a 12MP TrueDepth snapper with a wider field of view so that you can fit more of your friends into a selfie. Improved Smart HDR will get you more natural-looking photos, and you can also use the camera to record 4K video at 60 frames per second or slow-mo video at 120fps.
Other notable camera upgrades of the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max include a 30 percent brighter True Tone flash, a redesigned Camera interface that lets you see and capture the area outside of the frame, and a QuickTake feature that'll let you record video without switching out of photo mode by holding the shutter button.
Apple also teased a new Deep Fusion feature that's coming with a software update this fall. Deep Fusion uses machine learning for pixel-by-pixel processing and takes nine photos, including eight shots before you press the shutter button and then one long exposure. Those images are then stitched together to get you a photo with better texture and detail.
The iPhone 11 Pro will be available in two screen sizes: 5.8-inch 2436x1125 and 6.5-inch 2688x1242. Both are OLED Super Retina XDR screens, and Apple touts that they offer up to 1200 nits of brightness as well as HDR10.
Inside the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max is Apple's new A13 Bionic processor. Apple says that the A13 Bionic is the fastest CPU and GPU on the market. It's made with a 7nm process and includes four efficiency cores as well as two performance cores.
Another major upgrade of the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max is improved battery life. Apple says that the iPhone 11 Pro will get four additional hours of battery life over the iPhone XS while the iPhone 11 Pro Max gets five more hours of battery life over the iPhone XS Max. And to help you recharge that battery more quickly, Apple is including its 18W fast charger in the box of the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.
Face ID is improved on the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, with Apple touting that it's now 30 percent faster. It's also getting improved performance at varying distances and support for more angles, meaning it should be easier to unlock your phone while it's resting on a table.
The body of the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max include a textured matte glass back and polished stainless steel band. Apple is giving customers a new color option with the Pro phones, too, adding a Midnight Green paint job to the Space Gray, Silver, and Gold options that were available last year.
Both models will be available for pre-order starting this Friday, Sept. 13, at 5:00 am PT/8:00 am ET, and both models will begin shipping on Sept. 20. Here are the storage options for the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max as well as their prices:
