We recently said that there haven't been many rumors or leaks about the Apple Watch Series 5 to date, but that's changing in the weeks leading up to Apple's expected iPhone event in early September.
A new leak suggests that new Apple Watch models with titanium and ceramic cases are in the works. The watchOS 6 beta has been found to contain setup animations for Apple Watch models with titanium and ceramic cases in 44mm sizes, and iHelp BR says that there are 40mm versions in there as well.
Apple has never offered an Apple Watch with a titanium case, and while there have been ceramic models in the past, the Apple Watch Series 4 skipped that material. The Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 models were both available in Edition versions with Ceramic cases, but the Series 4 is only offered with aluminum and stainless steel cases.
The watchOS 6 beta doesn't contain any other details about these Apple Watch case finishes, like if they'll be exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 5 or if the Series 4 model will get them. It's also unclear what these titanium and ceramic models may cost, but don't be surprised if they're not cheap: the Apple Watch Edition Series 3 model started at $1,299.
Having more case options for the Apple Watch will be nice for variety, and the titanium and ceramic models could convince folks who want a more luxury Apple Watch model to upgrade to a titanium or ceramic model
Apple is widely expected to be planning its next event for September 10, and it's likely that we'll see new iPhone and new Apple Watch models announced there.
