The first new iPhone announced today is the iPhone 11.
An update to the iPhone XR, the new iPhone 11 features a 6.1-inch 1792x828 Liquid Retina LCD screen with Haptic Touch. One of the major upgrades to the iPhone 11 is its dual rear camera setup, up from a single rear cam on the XR. This includes a 12MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS as well as a 12MP ultra wide angle cam with 120-degree field of view and an f/2.4 aperture.
Apple is also adding Night Mode with the iPhone 11 as well, helping you to take better low-light shots. We've seen a lot of Android phones come to market lately with dedicated night modes in the camera app, so it's great to see it finally coming to iPhone as well. Apple says that the iPhone 11 can also capture 4K video at 60fps as well as extended dynamic range and slow-mo video.
Smart HDR uses machine learning to give your photos a more natural look with better highlight and shadow detail, and the new QuickTake feature will let you record a video without switching from photo mode by just holding down on the shutter button. Apple today also teased its new Deep Fusion feature. Launching later this fall, Deep Fusion takes nine photos, including eight images before you even press the shutter button, and then performs pixel-by-pixel processing and stitches the images together to give your photos better detail and texture.
Around front, Apple has upgraded the iPhone 11 to a 12MP selfie cam with support for 4K video at 60fps and slow-mo video recording.
Another upgrade made with the iPhone 11 is its Apple A13 Bionic processor. Apple says that the A13 Bionic is the fastest smartphone processor on the market as well as the fastest GPU.
Apple has improved Face ID on the iPhone 11, making it 30 percent faster and also improving its performance at varying distances and adding support for more angles. The body of the iPhone 11 features IP68 water and dust resistance, and Apple has improved battery life, with the iPhone 11 getting you one hour of additional battery life compared to the iPhone XR.
The iPhone 11 will be available in six colors at launch: purple, white, yellow, green, black, and red. You'll be able to pre-order starting at 5:00 am PT this Friday, September 13, and it'll begin shipping on September 20. Pricing for the iPhone 11 will start at $699 for the 64GB model and go up to $749 for the 128GB version or $849 for the 256GB flavor.
