Today's a big day for Sprint and its 5G network. In addition to launching new 5G coverage in four new cities and expanding existing 5G coverage in four other locales, Sprint is adding a new 5G smartphone to its lineup.
The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is launching at Sprint. It'll be available for $0 down and $35 per month on an 18-month Sprint Flex lease, but customers who activate a new line of service or are eligible for an upgrade can get it for $20 per month after a $15 monthly credit.
Sprint says that the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G will be available in select stores in 5G markets today, August 27, and it'll be available online and by calling 1-800-SPRINT1 starting August 28. The phone will launch in all Sprint retail channels on September 6.
As its name suggests, the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is a 5G-enabled version of the OnePlus 7 Pro flagship that launched earlier this year. It's got a 6.67-inch 3120x1440 Fluid AMOLED screen with in-display fingerprint sensor and 90Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 855 processor, dual stereo speakers, and a 4000mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging.
Also included with the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP main sensor, 8MP telephoto lens with 3x lossless zoom, and a 16MP ultra wide angle camera with a 116-degree field of view. For your selfie needs, there's a 16MP camera that'll pop up from the body of the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.
Sprint's launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is notable for a couple reasons. Not only is Sprint expanding its 5G device portfolio, but this news means that Sprint is just the second U.S. carrier to sell a OnePlus phone, following T-Mobile. Having more choices is always a good thing, and the arrival of the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G on Sprint means that Sprint customers have another option when buying a new phone. Plus, this is good news for OnePlus because even more consumers will be exposed to a OnePlus phone for the first time.
