Apple is likely going to host its new iPhone event on September 10, and now a new rumor suggests that a new Apple Watch could be shown at the event as well.
The Apple Watch Series 5 model is expected to use OLED screens supplied by Japan Display, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In a research note that's come out this week (via MacRumors), Kuo says that a new Apple Watch will come out in the second half of 2019.
Kuo goes on to claim that Japan Display will increase its portion of OLED screen orders for the Apple Watch, starting with around 15-20 percent of orders in 2019 and growing to 70-80 percent in 2021.
The rumor mill has been surprisingly quiet when it comes to the Apple Watch Series 5. Apple typically shows its new Apple Watch hardware at its iPhone events, and so with today's report of a new Apple Watch coming in the second half of 2019, it seems likely that an Apple Watch Series 5 will be revealed at the event that's expected early next month.
It's unknown what other improvements might be included with an Apple Watch Series 5. Kuo previously hinted that a "new ceramic casing design" could be brought to the Apple Watch, but he didn't specify if it would be included with the Apple Watch Series 5.
