Samsung's Galaxy Fold has been dominating most of the foldable smartphone news lately, but today we're focusing on the other big-name foldable phone, the Huawei Mate X.
Huawei CEO Richard Yu was recently spotted at an airport with a Mate X, and he showed the foldable phone off for some photos. Spotted by XDA-Developers on Weibo, we get to see the Huawei Mate X in folded and unfolded positions, and the back of the phone is shown off as well.
Some new photos of the Mate X are worth checking out on their own, but these images are especially notable because they show that Huawei has made some tweaks to the design since we first saw the Mate X. The two black strips on the back of the phone now have a carbon fiber design, and the button to unhook the foldable design is now wider and has a red line on it.
The photos also clearly show the four cameras on the back of the Huawei Mate X, which include a 40MP wide angle cam, a 16MP ultra wide angle snapper, an 8MP telephoto camera, and a Time of Flight sensor.
Huawei was originally planning to launch the Mate X in mid-2019, but the company recently pushed the release to September. The reason for the delay is that Huawei wants to be more "cautious" following the issues that the Samsung Galaxy Fold had, and so Huawei is likely doing some extra testing to make sure the Mate X is just right before unleashing it onto the public.
