After getting an early introduction thanks to Amazon, the Moto Z4 is now official.
One area where the Moto Z4 is an upgrade over its predecessor is the display. Not only does the Moto Z4 have a larger 6.4-inch 2340x1080 OLED screen, its bezels have shrunk compared to the Moto Z4. There's a small waterdrop notch at the top of the screen, and Motorola has included an in-display fingerprint sensor as well.
Around back, the Moto Z4 boasts a 48MP camera with Quad Pixel tech that combines four pixels into a single 1.6µm pixel for better low light performance. The 25MP front camera on the Moto Z4 uses Quad Pixel tech, too, so that your selfies look better in low light situations. There are also features like AI Portrait Lighting and Portrait Mode if you want to add an artistic touch to your selfie photos.
Another upgrade that the Moto Z4 boasts over the Moto Z3 is the headphone jack. While the Z3 was missing a 3.5mm port, meaning you had to rely on USB-C for audio, the Moto Z4 lets you use 3.5mm headphones without an adapter.
Inside the Moto Z4 is an octa-core Snapdragon 675 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage with a microSD slot with support for cards up to 2TB. A 3600mAh battery powers the phone, and 15W TurboPower fast charging support is in there as well. The body of the Moto Z4 is water repellent, and the software is Android 9 Pie that Motorola says has "no duplicate apps" and "no clunky UI skins".
Finally, because it's a Moto Z phone, the Moto Z4 does support Moto Mods. Motorola sells a number of Moto Mod add-ons, including a projector, speaker, battery pack, 360-degree camera, and even a 5G Moto Mod that'll get you onto Verizon's 5G network, and they're all compatible with the Moto Z4.
The Moto Z4 will be available from Verizon and in an unlocked variant. Verizon will begin selling the Moto Z4 on June 13th for $20.83 per month for 24 months ($499.99 full retail), but for a limited time, customers who switch to Verizon or add a new line can get the Moto Z4 for $10 per month for 24 months. Verizon is also selling its 5G Moto Mod for $199.99, meaning new Verizon customers can get themselves a 5G-equipped Moto Z4 for $439.99.
Customers who want the unlocked Moto Z4 can now pre-order the device from Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H ahead of its June 6th launch date. Included with the unlocked model is a free Moto 360 Camera Mod.
